🛫 Where Should I Fly Into?
While Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) is the closest airport, Italy’s incredible train system means you can often find cheaper flights into other cities and take a scenic train into Venice.
Here are great alternatives with train times to Venice:
Milan Malpensa (MXP) – ~2.5 hours /
Rome Fiumicino (FCO) – ~4 hours /
Florence (FLR) – ~2 hours /
Bologna (BLQ) – ~1.5 hours /
Verona (VRN) – ~1 to 1.5 hours.
High-speed trains (Trenitalia or Italo) are fast, clean, and often cheaper if booked in advance.
🎟️ Book tickets at trenitalia.com or italotreno.it.

Travel Tips & Must-Knows
🛂 Passport Validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates. (So if you're traveling in March 2026, make sure it doesn’t expire before September 2026.)
💳 Currency & Credit Cards
Italy uses the Euro (€). Most places accept credit cards, but it’s a good idea to carry some cash—especially for water taxis, small shops, and cafes.
📶 Cell Phone / Data
Check with your carrier for international roaming plans. You can also grab a local eSIM or SIM card if your phone is unlocked. Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels and restaurants.
🚶♂️ Comfortable Shoes
Venice is a car-free city made for walking. Expect lots of bridges, cobblestone streets, and water taxis—so bring comfortable shoes you can walk in (and maybe skip the stilettos)
💧 Waterproof Layers
Weather in March can be chilly and sometimes rainy. A warm coat, compact umbrella, and layers will go a long way.
🔌 Power Adapters
Italy uses Type C or F plugs (two round pins) and 230V.
Bring a European plug adapter — and make sure your devices can handle the voltage if you’re bringing a hairdryer or straightener.
Steamers
The hotel offers garment steamers upon request at the front desk. For convenience, we suggest bringing a travel steamer if you prefer having one on hand.
